Live Nets

Luxsol® makes great varity of Live nets and nettings for Net Pens.

You can choose any mesh size , material (such as Polyamide, polyester, etc ) and mesh shapes (rectangular, square or round) even with antifouling coating and UV protection.

Our knowledge and experience allows us to make custom netting in any dimension using any type of material. You can configure the netting to meet your requirements.

However, with the rapid advances in material development it did not take us long to realize that knotless netting had characteristics that whilst it may not have suited the requirements of the aquaculture industry, had many advantages for fish farmers.

Luxsol® netting has a much higher Ultra Violet (UV) resistance than nylon or polyester, is less dense and therefore weighs less, is less prone to allowing algae and marine organisms to attach to its surface, is easier to clean and is as a result a more cost effective alternative. We can however supply the best products available, with mesh sizes and braid diameters that suit your requirements.

UV stability is critical. A typical nylon net subjected to the full force of sun, every day will need to be replaced on average every 2-3 years due to UV degradation.

Density of the cage net material; in other words the weight per square meter is most relative when cage staff have to work the cages. Time is money, and the quicker a net can be lifted, examined, cleaned and replaced the more effective the business can operate.

Nets must be kept clean to both allow water to freely flow through the mesh, and to reduce the risk of bacterial attack on the stock held within the cage. Cleaning a Luxsol® net is done very quickly due to the smoothness of the surface of material. Each strand has a higher breaking strength compared to a strand of nylon, which is the reason why the braid diameter is generally thinner but stronger.

Advantages and disadvantages of different types of nettings:

Polyamide netting (capron, nylon)
  • Offers greater wear resistance (10 times higher than the cotton fibers, 20 times than wool, 50 times than viscose).

  • Highly flexible

  • High moisture absorption - about 4.7%.

  • High resistance to UV
Polyester Netting
  • Sufficient heat resistance.

  • Resistance to abrasion and multiple bends is slightly lower, but higher impact resistance.

  • Low hygroscopicity (water absorption 0.4%), which ensures rapid drying.

  • Insignificant shrinkage. Despite the fact that polyester is UV stable, the destruction speed is somewhat greater than polyamide.
Polypropylene Netting
  • Degrade from exposure to UV light, high temperatures or oxygen.

  • Short life time.
Dyneema Netting
  • Ultra high strength versus weight (15 times stronger than steel, like for like).

  • Low elongation at break.

  • High resistance to abrasion, moisture, UV radiation, and chemicals.

  • Float on water.

  • Highly flexible.

  • High energy absorption.

  • Dyneema® also shows the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic.

  • It doesn’t smell, doesn’t taste of anything, and isn't toxic. It is self-lubricating and its friction coefficient is lower than nylon and comparable to that of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon) – but with better abrasion resistance. And uniquely for a thermoplastic, it can conduct heat.

Advanced anti-fouling technology ensures optimum antifouling effectiveness, product safety and environmental friendliness. It also helps protect the nets from UV radiation, makes cleaning of the nets easier and increases the life-span of the nets.
