Fishing nets

Fishing is the activity of catching fish. It is not only for food but also as a hobby, sports.

Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping. Fishing nets have been used widely in the past, including by stone age societies. Recreational and sport fishing are fishing primarily for pleasure or competition. Recreational fishing has conventions, rules, licensing restrictions and laws that limit the way in which fish may be caught. But nets are widely used in commercial fishing. Commercial fishing methods have become very efficient using large nets and sea-going processing factories.

There are many types of nets such as Cast Nets, Custom Nets, Gill Nets, Hoop Nets, Landing Nets, Trap Nets, Seines, Trammel Nets etc.

Cast nets are one of the oldest and most widespread types of net used in fishing. Cast nets are nets that are thrown or cast into the water. When thrown, the net opens up in a large flat circular shape and sinks quickly to the bottom. The net is then pulled up out of the water and the catch is emptied. Cast nets are used to catch bait fish, shrimp, and pan-sized fish. Cast nets are very popular with the commercial fisherman as well as the sport and week-end fisherman.

Fishing nets have an extremely wide range of mesh size. It can vary from 30 to 100 mm, but for example, Small Mesh Nets may be from 9 mm mesh size. Monofilament thread is commonly used For their manufacturing.
